The decisions you make in “Firewatch” effect everything in the game, from what dialogue options are available, to how you interact with another character and how the story finishes up. The game has a butterfly effect, similar to what “Until Dawn” (another game I reviewed earlier, here for a different site that I am no longer part of) wanted to do but didn’t quite make it.

We sat in shock and stared at the screen, then each other, wondering if we had really just seen that, and then finished the game, staying up late talking about theories we had about the game or how we would do things differently, and what we thought would happen to these characters after the game ended that’s how invested we are with this game, and still are (even though it’s been a day or so, this has become one of our top loved games of all time) (c) Campo Santo When we got to gameplay we hadn’t seen yet, we got quiet and focused on the game, ignoring our surroundings and only coming back to reality once we discovered something that was supposed to be hidden and turned the course of the game. From 9:30-12a we played this game, shortening our time since we had already seen Jesse Cox play through almost all of it. The game is designed to be played in one sitting, and that’s exactly what Z and I did.

It has a max of three hours of gameplay if you wonder around and explore the environment, or you get turned around while trying to figure out how to read an old map for the first few minutes of the game. With a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack that can be found here (it’s on youtube so you can hear it, but I suggest you buy it because it’s gorgeous! It’s how I’m listening to it right now while writing this), I highly suggest that you play this game. I won’t add any spoilers to this game, because I want everyone out there to play it for themselves or watch a let’s play channel (whether it be Jesse Cox, PewDiePie, or someone else that you like or find) because it makes you ask questions about what you would want to have happen to you in a certain situation and whether or not you made the right choice, either in the moment, or years after the fact.

I still have yet to play it myself, but Z and I did a run through together with him at the controls since I was tired from work when we were finally able to sit down and play this beautiful game last night. I said, ‘Screw waiting for Jesse Cox to finish it, I wanna play it.’

While looking around on the PlayStation Store, Z found that “Firewatch” was available for instant download as well as the beautiful theme that came with it for the PlayStation 4’s home screen. Yesterday, I saw a let’s play by Jesse Cox of this interesting game called “Firewatch.” Now, this is an indie game that I had never heard of and I thought that you could only get through Steam, so I was fine watching the let’s play, though Jesse Cox is a loot hunter and decided to go ways completely opposite of where he should be that drove me insane (watch either Bioshock Infinite, Witcher, or Far Cry and you’ll see what I mean). Link is joined by Akuma (Street Fighter Series) and Alduin (The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim) on top of the shelf.

The beautiful Zelda Shrine (it even has an electric candle in the middle. I recently got a job as a senior Game Advisor at GameStop and I couldn’t be happier. Seriously, I have a “Zelda Shrine” on one of the bookshelves because that game means so much to me, growing up and now. Since Z and I started dating about a year and a half ago almost, video games have become my best friends and I am open about loving them and interacting with them on a daily basis. I’ve always been around them and they have become part of who I am as a person. As some of you may know from previous posts either on here or on any of my social media outlets, I really like video games.
